High-resolution experimental and theoretical study of singly and doubly excited resonances in ground-state photoionization of neon.

چکیده
An experimental and theoretical study of ground-state photoionization of neon is presented in the photon energy range between 44 and 53 eV. This portion of the spectrum is characterized by a singly excited Rydberg series 2s2pnp , and by overlapping doubly excited Rydberg series 2s2p3snp and 2s2p3pnl (l5s ,d). With the use of synchrotron radiation of >3 meV spectral resolution, numerous hitherto unobserved resonances were resolved, including some which exhibit relativistic effects. To identify resonances observed here and in earlier works, we employed numerical calculations, which combine the eigenchannel R-matrix method, multichannel quantum defect theory, and the recoupling frame transformation. These nearly ab initio methods account for most of the observed features in the spectrum, including a class of spin-induced relativistic effects. @S1050-2947~96!10410-8#

The 3 snd 1 D to the 3 png 1 F Autoionization Resonances of Mg
Intense ultranarrow resonances have been observed in the photoionization of Mg from the singly-excited 3smd D (m=3,4,5,6) states to the doubly-excited 3png F (n=5,6,7) autoionization states using stepwise laser excitation and timeof-ßight mass spectrometry detection. The reported experimental energy resolution at an order of 10−7 of the photon energy represents a considerable improvement over t...
متن کاملInteraction between overlapping doubly excited resonance series for the He atom
We present a detailed theoretical study on the photoionization from the bound excited 1P state of He to continua dominated by multiple doubly excited resonance series embedded in multiple single-ionization channels between the N = 2 and N = 3 thresholds. In addition to identifying the individual resonance series, our investigation has also demonstrated unambiguously the level crossing between o...

متن کاملAtomic photoionization in changing plasma environment
We present a detailed theoretical study on the photoionization of oneand twoelectron atoms subject to external changing plasma environment based on the DebyeHückel model. Specifically, by examining the migration of the bound excited states into the continuum in the presence of plasma, our investigation has led to resonance-like photoionization structures immediately above the ionization thresho...
متن کاملDoubly Excited States of Cb, C;, and C;+
The stability of strongly bound excited states of Cat Cz and Cz’ resulting from double excitations of the type aE+MO’ relative to the ground-state configuration (with MO2 standing for 317:, 3a&r” or lx: ) was investigated using a multi-reference MRD-CI method. For Cz, the doubly excited configuration 30~1~: corresponds to the experimentally observed E’C: (3’Z: ) state, which exhibits a heavy mi...
